Wastewater Treatment and Collection Facility Improvements
City of Jasonville, Indiana

The use of the Lemna cover system and upflow nitrification reactor allowed HWC to design and implement an innovative solution to the City’s wastewater needs without the elimination of the existing lagoon system.

Project Highlights:

  • Project Cost - $3.2 million
  • Modular cover system complete with aeration and media filtration
  • Improvements to the influent screening/pump station, aeration and ultra-violet disinfection
  • Excess flow lift station to handle excess flows and transport them to the new flow equalization basin
  • Replacement of existing lift station and force main for increased capacity and sewer rehabilitation
  • The covered system controls temperature which is critical to meeting the proposed ammonia-nitrogen limits and is a floating system which allows it to handle peak flows and greatly reduce odors.
  • ACEC Indiana Honor Award recipient and was a national finalist at ACEC's 2007 Engineering Excellence Awards
