Marlin A. “Mak” Knowles, Jr. serves as Vice President of Operations and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana. He brings over 20 years of experience and leadership in the A/E Industry to HWC. His extensive background includes several years of construction experience in the field along with managing multiple business units and corporate sales.
Mak’s passion for the A/E Industry is centered around relationships. Relationships internal to the firm and relationships with clients/owners. Bringing both together accomplish infrastructure projects that improve the communities we live in. “There is nothing more satisfying than being able to do what you love with great people every day and have a positive and lasting impact on people’s quality of life!”
Prior to becoming an owner at HWC, Mak was a partner and Vice President at American Structurepoint. He served in a variety of leadership positions over 20 years including the firm’s business development, construction inspection, federal and forensic investigations group.
Mak serves in several leadership roles within his industry and community. He is a past president of the Indiana chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC Indiana). He is the current board president of Dream Alive, Inc., a mentoring and community service based after school program for underprivileged youth in Indianapolis, co-founded by former Indianapolis Colt, Tarik Glenn & his wife Maya. Mak also serves on the Hamilton County Extension board as well as the Trine University Civil Advisory Board, where he received his degree in Civil Engineering.
