PORTLAND, IN — The opening of Portland, Indiana’s new $3.4 million water park was a success when it welcomed hundreds of children and their families Memorial Day Weekend.
HWC Engineering helped the community turn what was starting to be considered an “eyesore” in to a park that features two 20-foot water slides, a 60-gallon dump bucket, a lazy river, a lily pad walk, swim lanes and a concession stand.
The planning to convert the pool, which has been in the community since 1954, took more than three years. Cory Whitesell, of HWC Engineering, mentioned that in many ways the Portland Pool is one of our most successful pool projects. The team applied lessons learned from other recent projects and executed a strong design.
