This scholarship is presented on behalf of Hannum, Wagle & Cline Engineering. We provide an array of civil and architectural engineering services, but pride ourselves on working with small communities and having “small town values.”

Many of our successes can be attributed to hiring Rose-Hulman graduates. In fact, five of the six partners are Rose alumni (David Hannum, Ralph Wagle, Dick Weigel, Eric Smith and Cory Whitesell). The firm has set up this scholarship as a way of giving back to the educational institution that has meant so much to our company.

The scholarship is presented annually to a sophomore civil engineering student. It is meant to assist them in their quest for a degree from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and to positively impact their life and career. As such requirements include:

  • Significant unmet Financial Need
  • Minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 (except for unusual mitigating circumstances)
  • Good Work Ethic and a Desire to Succeed

The recipient will receive a one-time $1000 scholarship. In addition, HWC will take the recipient out to dinner to present the award. A practicing engineer will be assigned as a professional mentor to touch base with the recipient a few times during their sophomore year to talk about the civil engineering profession. There is also the possibility of a summer internship with HWC the following year.
