HWC Awarded Two 2017 ACEC Indiana Engineering Excellence Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (March 21, 2018) – Two HWC Engineering projects were recognized for engineering excellence by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana at an awards luncheon on March 15.

The Zionsville Creekside Corporate Park Project received a Merit Award, and the Franklin King Street Corridor Project received a State Finalist Award.

The Engineering Excellence Awards are presented annually by ACEC Indiana to recognize engineering achievements, which demonstrate the highest degree of merit and ingenuity, by Indiana consulting engineering firms.

About the Projects

Zionsville Creekside Corporate Park

Creekside Corporate Park, owned by the Zionsville Redevelopment Commission, is a state-of-the-art project that enhances Zionsville’s quality of place and improves the community’s overall economic well-being.

A conservation office park, Creekside includes corporate headquarters and office buildings built alongside beautiful ravines and woodlands. In fact, 29 percent of the property is preserved as woodlands, waters of the US and wetlands. Creekside includes 66 acres on the north side of 106th Street in Zionsville. Of these 66 acres, 47 acres are developable and 19 acres are maintained for green space and passive recreation. Creekside is the first office park in the Indianapolis region to fully utilize low impact development, and it is the first choice for conscientious corporations that appreciate the natural setting and amenity-rich surroundings.

Franklin King Street Corridor

HWC Engineering worked with the city of Franklin, Indiana to complete the Franklin King Street Corridor Project. The King Street corridor, previously SR 44, is the primary gateway from I-65 into the city of Franklin.

Project improvements serve as a gradual gateway into Franklin with an emphasis on enhanced roadway elements, such as curbed and planted medians, reduced lane widths and other traffic calming features. Pedestrian improvements were also added along the north and south sides of King Street to improve connectivity to the surrounding neighborhoods, schools and the Franklin Historic Trail System. The resulting project creates a signature gateway statement at I-65 and a new linear park corridor to welcome visitors into the recently revitalized downtown.
