The Lafayette Transitional Housing Center (LTHC) broke ground on a new 24-hour apartment complex and engagement center earlier this month, a major accomplishment for the city of Lafayette.
The buildings will provide housing and services to community members facing homelessness. Specifically, the new buildings will provide space and opportunity for those who are not eligible or comfortable going to a traditional shelter.
LTHC Homeless Services Executive Director Jennifer Layton says “…with 40 more units of housing just here at the facility, coupled with all of the services and everything we’re going to have going on on the first floor, we’re just going to do a better job at ending homelessness and not just managing it any longer.”
HWC helped complete site design for the building, and we are thrilled to see the impact it will make within this partner community!
The Union Place Apartments and engagement center is expected to open in the fall of 2019.
