Indianapolis – HWC Engineering received the 2 State Finalist Awards for engineering excellence from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana.
The award was made in recognition of Seashore Waterpark in Lebanon, Indiana and the Village Promenade in Muncie, Indiana.
The Lebanon Seashore Waterpark is a 12,670 square foot aquatic center located in the center of Memorial Park in Lebanon, Indiana. The facility boasts of a 160 feet long open flume waterslide, a 173 feet long enclosed flume waterslide, a lazy river, a zero entry pool, a multi-level toy structure, a lily pad walk and a wave pool. The aquatic center also contains a new admissions and concessions building, as well as a renovated bathhouse facility that was originally built in 1990. The Seashore Waterpark is a major asset to the community and continues a long tradition of aquatic recreation at this site, going back to the original Seashore Pool built at this location in 1936.
The Village Promenade is a redevelopment project developed by a joint venture partnership between a private developer, Investment Property Advisors (IPA), and the City of Muncie. The project includes demolition of 1.5 blocks or 2.34 acres of old development and infrastructure bounded by University Avenue, Martin Street, North Street and the alley east of Dill Street in the heart of the “Village” area south of Ball State University in Muncie. The two multistory, mixed use buildings, developed by IPA, will provide much needed modern student housing delivering roughly 226 apartments and 20,000 square feet of commercial/retail space, including restaurants. The internal parking garage, developed by the City, will provide parking for the building as well as help address other parking concerns in the area.
This award is made each year by ACEC Indiana to recognize an outstanding engineering achievement that demonstrates a high degree of merit and ingenuity.
