Brummitt Road Small Structure Replacement
HWC was responsible for the design and replacement of Structure PI-001, Brummitt Road over Arm 19 of the Little Calumet River, in Porter County, Indiana.
The project included the removal and replacement of an existing 142” x 91” corrugated metal pipe arch structure. This project also included a new concrete headwall, wingwalls, removal of a secondary pipe culvert to create an open ditch, as well as reconstructing the asphalt roadway, guardrail removal and installation, and landscaping. Additional scour protection measures were taken by adding riprap at both the inlet and outlet of the new structure.
The project was completed in August 2025 with an approximate construction cost of $960,000.
