Franklin Township Park

Indy Parks and Recreation hired HWC to lead a park renovation of Franklin Township Park in southeastern Marion County. While a focus on new amenities, such as playground features, were front and center, much of the park was within a floodplain, requiring special attention to stormwater mitigation strategies in the background to make the design successful. Strategies included a series of surface level landscape and vegetated swales to direct surface runoff as well as on-site bioretention and strategic elevation of design components to help direct storm runoff.
