Utility Water System Improvements Phases 1 & 2

Phase 1: This $400,000 project was the first phase of a comprehensive system upgrade focused on the distribution system and reducing the amount of water lost in the system. The project was OCRA-funded and included improvements to the Town’s distribution system, including water main, valve, and hydrant replacements. HWC prepared the bidding documents and provided engineering services during construction.

Phase 2: HWC was retained by the Town of Dana to complete the planning, design, and construction phase management for Phase 2 of this project to improve the operation, reliability, and sustainability of Dana’s water system. This phase consisted of an overall improvements plan and included improvements to the water supply, treatment, and storage facilities in the system, along with the addition of new radio read meters in the distribution system.

Key highlights include:

  • Wellfield – New well pumps, new electrical service and control systems, and a new raw water transmission main
  • Water Treatment Facility – New aerator, backwash waste system improvements, new electrical and controls, and building improvements
  • Water Storage Tank – Demolition of the 100-year-old elevated tank and construction of a new 75,000-gallon elevated tank

The approximate $2 million project was bid in late 2021 with construction completed in early 2023. HWC managed all engineering and funding acquisition processes for the project.
