Griffith Road Bridge

HWC designed a 41’-0” single-span reinforced concrete slab bridge as part of the Grand Vista subdivision development for Griffith Road over Hurricane Creek. The original bridge was a single-span prestressed concrete adjacent box beam bridge built in 1978. The bridge accommodates two lanes of traffic and a pedestrian path. The bridge and roadway were designed to accommodate additional future development in the area. Permits required for this project included DNR CIF, IDEM 401/USACE 404, CSGP, and Johnson County Legal Drain Encroachment. Coordination between HWC and several other firms was necessary to connect the bridge neatly into other development work.
