Quality of Life Plan

In order to attract and retain businesses, Orange County recognized that it first needed to attract and retain population/workforce. To establish a strategy around population retention and attraction, Orange County turned to HWC to craft a Quality of Life plan. The plan included key recommendations related to parks, natural resources, trails, and other community amenities.

Murphy Aquatic Park

HWC worked closely with Washington Township Parks and Recreation in Hendricks County to design a new regional park and aquatic center in Avon, Indiana. Currently, under construction, the initial phase of the project centers around a state-of-the-art aquatic center which will house a large wave pool, central sprayground, activity pool, and waterslides.  In addition to the aquatic center, the park will feature an inclusive playground with play berms, trails, recreation pond, wetland, restored habitat, and parking. A community center with an indoor recreation facility is planned for the second phase.

Ingalls Maple Trails Subdivision

HWC provided boundary and topographic surveying services and preformed staking and asbuilt work for the Maple Trails Subdivision Project in Ingalls, Indiana, which aided in the development of 160 acres for residential housing. The project also involved additional off-site surveying for utility routes to existing sanitary facilities and drainage outlet points.

HWC Engineering provided surveying services for the Fountain County Sheriff’s Office and Jail Project.

The project utilized drone imagery and other available data sources to help design and construct a new office and jail facilities with only two weeks of turnaround time.

Seymour Southern Bypass

HWC Engineering partnered with another firm to complete topographic and route surveying along a four mile route for a new bypass around the south side of the city of Seymour, Indiana.

HWC also coordinated with an aerial mapping firm that provided base topographic mapping and aerial ortho-photos for the project.

HWC acquired additional topographic surveys in some areas due to route realignments and additions. 

The total survey fee exceeded $100,000.
