HWC worked with studioAXIS and the City of West Lafayette, Indiana to provide survey and site design for the rehabilitation of the existing West Lafayette City Hall site. The existing site had a building that was salvaged and completely remodeled to preserve the existing façade.

The previous site design was revised, and a new parking lot and utilities were built. The east entrance of the building was improved to create an exterior plaza, new exterior spaces, and our design helped preserve the character of the existing building. A future expansion of the streetscape is planned for the west side of the building.

The existing site contained a rain garden that was improved and drainage for the site is now collected before release from the site. The City installed a new water main along the north side of the site and provided new utility connections for all utilities. HWC also worked closely with City officials to develop a landscaping plan that enhanced the site and met all required ordinances.

Portland Water Park

Portland Water Park

HWC provided design, project management, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the award-winning Portland Water Park project. HWC also oversaw bidding, construction administration, and construction inspection.

The project replaced the community’s aging public pool with an upgraded facility. The new facility includes a beach entry pool, toddler activity zone, lazy river, vortex pool, water slides, dump bucket, lily pad walk, a competition pool, and spectator area. The facility also includes a new bathhouse to provide public restrooms, a concessions area, pool office, and mechanical equipment rooms. Supporting the community’s long-standing tradition of aquatic recreation, the Portland Water Park is a key community asset.

Downtown Loop Trail

The Downtown Loop Trail is an INDOT-funded multi-use path that, when complete, will connect Crawfordsville’s cultural destinations, neighborhoods, downtown shops, and ultimately to the Sugar Creek Trail making downtown Crawfordsville a regional destination for trail tourism. The first phase connects Wabash College to the library, Pike Street Farmer’s Market, Pike Place, and Fusion 54, the downtown workshare community center. The trail consists of a concrete path with custom pavers, new lighting, rest nodes with benches, and shade trees.
