For this development, a 12,500 SF building includes associated parking, fire truck access, and utility infrastructure. Two new entrance drives were designed along Vitality Drive; one on the south and one on the east, to provide ingress and egress for fire trucks from the building, as well as a drive to a parking area in the front of the building.

The existing pond was expanded in order to provide additional detention volume required to meet present day standards.

In order to attract and retain businesses, Orange County recognized that it first needed to attract and retain population/workforce. To establish a strategy around population retention and attraction, Orange County turned to HWC to craft a Quality of Life plan. The plan included key recommendations related to parks, natural resources, trails, and other community amenities.

Murphy Aquatic Park

HWC’s Landscape Architecture group worked closely with the Washington Township Parks and Recreation to design the regional Murphy Aquatic Park in Avon, Indiana. The park is the largest capital project for the Washington Township Parks Department and solidified the park’s position as a regional destination in central Indiana.

It includes a state-of-the-art aquatic facility with a wave pool, activity pool with an inclusive play feature and slide tower, cabanas and shade structures, concessions, and a pool house. In addition to the aquatic facility, the park features wooded and natural areas with trails, fishing pond, sled hill, and inclusive playground.

This project won the Merit Award for Constructed Works over $2 million from the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (INASLA) in 2023. This award recognizes outstanding projects completed by organizations in Indiana to raise standards of excellence and heighten public appreciation of quality landscape architecture.

Ingalls Maple Trails Subdivision

HWC provided boundary and topographic surveying services and preformed staking and asbuilt work for the Maple Trails Subdivision Project in Ingalls, Indiana, which aided in the development of 160 acres for residential housing. The project also involved additional off-site surveying for utility routes to existing sanitary facilities and drainage outlet points.
